A Braver & Safer Search

Brave, the progenitor of the cryptocurrency BAT, just launched a new addition to its arsenal of services. Brave currently has a browser that is aptly named the brave browser. On Tuesday, 22nd of June 2021, Brave launched a new search engine with the name Brave Search.

This new feature is a step in the direction of taking over a chunk of the market while keeping the privacy aspect in focus. In the words of Brave itself: “Brave Search beta now available in Brave browser, offering users the first independent privacy search/browser alternative to big tech”

This duo of browser and search engine was implemented by DuckDuckGo in 2008, and with over 67 billion searches, DuckDuckGo is nothing short of a phenomenon. While DDG is pretty stagnant now, the recent focus on privacy in digital space is a boost for both Brave and DuckDuckGo.

Since Brave has the support of the cryptocurrency market and Basic Attention Token is already a hit among investors, this move could prove to be beneficial.

Brave Search, the new search engine, boasts of a secure and non-infringing model. The product doesn’t collect user data of any kind and has its own model of ranking results, therefore, it could be the torchbearer for privacy based technologies in the future.

The existing Brave browser, simply called Brave, is already loaded with features like in-built VPN and firewall, blocks for trackers, pairing with DuckDuckGo search engine in incognito mode to garner the full power of safety. The prospects are exciting for this product, and with the existing infrastructure already in place, it could prove to be a game-changer soon.
